DON’T PANIC BUT LAUREN SANDERSON DROPPED A NEW VIDEO

Shut Em Up is a new ‘f*** you’ anthem brought to you by Lauren Sanderson, a new queer bad-girl on the music scene. The Miami Vice style of the video matches her swagger and iconic style perfectly. The attitude and careless disposition that Sanderson presents throughout the video makes her both tough and sexy. The graphics resemble that 2000’s clip art we all know and love, placed against the trippy follow cam of Sanderson showcases her artistry. This 22-year-old from Indiana doesn’t care what you think and wants you to know it. Her third EP is out worldwide now so check out “DONT PANIC!” now. The driving beat is sure to get you fired up whether you’re driving around the city, in the gym, or out with friends.

Sanderson got her start as a motivational speaker (watch her ted x talk here) and YouTube personality before branching out into the non-genre breakout star she is today. She’s had a big year, from moving to LA and signing with Epic Records. Before signing with Epic Records, she was a one-woman show: she shipped her merch, produced and wrote her songs, and doing her own marketing and PR.

YOUR NEXT CUFFING SEASON ANTHEM

King Princess, the 19-year old indie pop queer icon from Brooklyn, NY released her new video last night. The single Pussy Is God is a spellbound hymn to praise her one true love: women.

For those of you who don’t know, King Princess blew up when Harry Styles tweeted about her single 1950 back in March. A day after that tweet, the lyric page for 1950 increased by 700%. Newly signed by Zelig Records, she is not a newbie. She chose to get a high school education over a record deal offered at the ripe age of 11. Her track plays on ideas of historical gender roles and unrequited love in the LGBT community.

Her debut EP Make My Bed is 15 minutes of daydreamy pop to fulfill your head with catchy guitar licks and soothing lyrics.

Her second single Talia mimics all those times you were traipsing through house parties tipsy, hoping to see the “one that got away”. It’s got the kind of chorus that has you singing at the top of your lungs in your Uber at 2 am.

But four drinks I’m wasted
I can see you dancing, I can lay down next to you
At the foot of my bed
If I drink enough
I can taste your lipstick, I can lay down next to you
But it’s all in my head
If I drink enough I swear that I will wake up next to you 

The rest of the EP is like a well-written journal of a love story and the turbulence that is included when falling in and out of love.

With dreamy pastel-filled visuals reminiscent of the Talia video, Pussy Is God seems to fit the soft grunge swagger-filled aesthetic that only King Princess can achieve. Riding in on her gold soaked outfit and dewy skin she might just bring you your sexual awakening. Her lyrics are clever but sweet, soft with the right amount of confidence.

They say it gets hard when you’re getting up
Been knocked down from some other love
But their best wasn’t good enough
And you’re number one to me

Forget the knight in shining armor, she’s changing the game by liberating pop music. Now, we know why she is both the King and the Princess.
